Randy Boldt
What I've been up to since my days in the Children of the Light: When I was nine years old, I felt the Lord calling me to pastoral ministry, and for the last thirty years I have had the privilege of serving Christ's church. I have served as a staff pastor in three congregations and as a senior pastor in four others (two where church plants). In addition, Sue and I have enjoyed raising our three kids and watching them become amazing adults with their own families.
My favorite Children of the Light memories: I'll let Dave tell the story of the "atomic wedgie." It's still too traumatic for me to talk about. But my memories of COTL are filled wth fun, laughter, friendship, and deeply spiritual experiences. The amazing ways God used us and our music is extremely humbling. But even more so are the miraulous ways He used that period in my life to shape the trajectory of my future. Eternity will not be nearly long enough for me to express my gratitutde to Jesus for blessing me with that incredible season of life and for the relationships with the other guys and their families that have been such a rich source of joy to me through all the seasons since.
Something I'd like you to know about me: I am deeply committed to Jesus Christ and forever grateful to Him for blessing me with my wonderful wife, our three children, their spouses, and our two grandkids.
My favorite things:
- Sports: I don't often get the chance, but I love watching a good baseball game.
- Music: I realize that I'm stuck in a time warp, but I enjoy almost anything by James Taylor, Carole King, and the Eagles. Lately I've also been really getting into Alison Krause and Union Station.
- Movies: Star Wars (all episodes), the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Indiana Jones (all episodes), Back to the Future (all episodes), Hoosiers, Chariots of Fire.
- Books/Authors: Fiction - J.R.R. Tokien, Jan Karon, John Grisham (especially The Testament), anything Star Wars. Non-fiction - Bill Hybels, Donald Miller, Rob Bell, David McCullough, Tom Brokaw, Jack Hayford, and on and on...
- Activities: I love traveling to Taiwan every six months to teach Youth With A Mission students from around the world about the person and work of the Holy Spirit. I also love vacationing in the Hawaiian Islands with my precious wife, Sue.
- Food: Although it totally busts our budget to do it, I seriously enjoy an occasional filet mignon dinner at a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
If I could spend time with any historical person...I would enjoy shadowing Moses for about a week just to get a sense of his genious. I think he was the greatest leader that has ever lived aside from Jesus.
